World Wildlife Day

World Wildlife Day

The World Wildlife Day was created in 2013 by the United Nations. This day is intended to celebrate the great diversity of wild animals and plants that exist on Earth.

Portimão, Algarve

This day tries to remember the contribution of wild plants and animals to sustainable development and the general well-being of humanity. In addition to the daily dangers that wildlife faces in different directions.

It is a day that allows us to reflect on the reduction of threats that these species face. Threats such as wildlife traffic.

According to the UN, traffic in species of fauna and flora is worth billions of euros a year on the black market.

Monchique mountain, Algarve

March 3 was chosen, as it was on this day, in 1973, that the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was held.

The wild fauna and flora and the livelihoods that depend on them are facing different crises that are currently being experienced.

Crises such as climate change, loss of biodiversity and the impacts of the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

So, today is the day to reflect on livelihoods based particularly on the oceans in which we do business.

Warning stakeholders, including civil society and NGOs to watch and raise the concept for this day.

Alvor, Algarve

This day celebrates the existing diversity of wild animals and plants. As well as the diversity of waves you can find when you reach a beach.

Always remember that all the diversity of any element plays a crucial role. Whether in a more visible or a less obvious way.

Think and Act at the expense of others!
